“The Harp is to Music what Music is to Life"

Carlos Salzedo

About Me

Australian/Canadian Tegan Noiseux (M.Mus) has been performing internationally for over a decade. A founding member of the Griffyn Ensemble and the Seven Harp Ensemble, Tegan has performed with orchestras in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, as well as competing internationally as a soloist. Her main musical influences have been her harp teachers Alice Giles and Heidi Lehwalder.

Before moving to BC, Tegan was a founding teacher at Harp Centre Australia, presented harp workshops for the Canberra Institute of Technology, and adjudicated for the Sydney Harp Eisteddfod. She provides specialist presentations on contemporary harp composition techniques and arranging for harp, and was a recent guest at a harp masterclass series at the Victoria Conservatory of Music in BC. She has also featured as second harpist and guest principal for the Victoria Symphony for almost a decade, and is part of Harps Entwined, a harp duo created by the VS principal harpist Annabelle Stanley.

A third generation music teacher and a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers’ Association, Tegan takes great pleasure in sharing her passion for music through performance and through teaching. She believes the best learning takes place when students are encouraged, inspired, and challenged in a supportive, non-threatening environment. Lessons are specifically tailored to meet each student’s interests and abilities. Tegan is just as enthusiastic about helping beginners discover the joy of playing the harp as she is about helping advanced students prepare for performances or exams, and she has experience working with students of all ages.

Her expertise and professionalism are combined with a whimsical sense of humour and holistic approach that has encouraged students to describe her as an “engaging, sympathetic, and inspiring teacher.”

Student Testimonials

“I’ve always wanted to do something musical, but the older I got, the more I felt it was not a realistic goal. It seemed so overwhelming. Tegan’s class helped me so much. I’ve not only learned a lot, but I’ve realised it’s okay not to know everything—I can still enjoy music at my own level.”
